West Papua: The Genocide That Is Being Ignored by The World

From thelastamericanvagabond.com

If you need evidence that politicians and the mainstream media pick and choose which oppressive conflicts to cover in order to further geopolitical ambitions, you need only Google “West Papua.”

Ever heard of it? Have you ever been sitting at home watching CNNBBC, or Fox News and heard the news anchor mention West Papua?

It’s strange that this oppression receives little to no media coverage considering a recent fact-finding mission conducted by the Brisbane Archdiocese’s Catholic Justice and Peace Commission reported that West Papua was experiencing a “slow motion genocide.” The report warned West Papua’s indigenous population is at risk of becoming “an anthropological museum exhibit of a bygone culture.”

When you learn what fuels the conflict in West Papua, it becomes clear why this issue receives hardly a blink from our peace-loving politicians and media establishment.

West Papua is home to one of the world’s largest gold mines (and third largest copper mine), known as the Grasberg Mine. Grasberg is majority-owned by the American mining firm Freeport McMoRan. It has reserves worth an estimated $100 billion, and the company is Indonesia’s biggest taxpayer.

Money and geopolitics usually beat out human rights. Since the Suharto dictatorship of Indonesia annexed West Papua in a 1969 U.N. referendum – largely viewed as a land grab – an estimated 500,000 West Papuans have been killed fighting to achieve independence.

Freeport McMoRan was given rights to Grasberg when the Indonesian government signed the right to extract mineral wealth from the site in 1967. In order to preserve this quite literal gold mine, the Indonesian military uses brute force against the local indigenous population. Benny Wenda, a native Papuan who has campaigned his whole life for independence, details the kinds of experiences the local population has endured at the hands of the Indonesian military:

“Now, every morning on the way to their gardens, Benny and his mother and aunties would be stopped and checked by Indonesian soldiers. Often the soldiers would force the women to wash themselves in the river before brutally raping them in front of their children. Many young women, including three of Benny’s aunties, died in the jungle from the trauma and injuries inflicted during these attacks, which often involved genital mutilation. Every day Papuan women had to report to the military post to provide food from their gardens, and to clean and cook for the soldiers. Violence, racism and enforced subservience became part of daily routine.” [emphasis added]

Australia, a country with a cozy, albeit confusing relationship with Indonesia, plays its part in destroying any decent discussion on this horrifying issue. In November of last year, the Indonesian government asked Australia to put pressure on the Pacific nations who have begun to show support for West Papua’s campaign for independence, effectively stopping these tiny islands from “interfering” in Indonesia’s affairs. Australia has been quite complicit in this issue to date, even providing the Indonesian military with the equipment necessary to wreak havoc on the local population.

ABORIGINAL PEOPLE HAVE A RIGHT TO PROTEST THE COMMONWEALTH GAMES AS STOLEN WEALTH

Australia has always wanted to stake a claim on Aboriginal culture – but only when it benefits them. They remain ignorant when the legislative bullets are fired to weaken and destroy it, and do not seek to protect it when the right to culture and ceremony is in the way of profit and white prosperity.

But when we need to show ourselves to the world, when we need to present a different face, it is Aboriginal culture that is seen as the antidote to the cultural cringe.

Suddenly, Australia is proud of the 100,000 years of human habitation that colonialism sought to wipe out, and which Australia devalues. Suddenly, it is “ours”, and one for which we all hold a shared pride.

As Patrick Wolfe wrote: “In Australia, the erasure of Indigeneity conflicts with the assertion of settler-nationalism. On the one hand, settler society required the practical elimination of natives in order to establish itself on their territory. On the symbolic level, however, settler society subsequently sought to recuperate Indigeneity in order to express its difference – and, accordingly, its independence – from the mother country”.

The Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony was a reminder of this. The highlight of the night was the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander elements, from the traditional smoking ceremony by Luther Cora, to the Bangarra Dance Theatre and the Torres Strait Islander hip hop artist Mau Power.

No doubt, the First Nations people who took part should be celebrated because their performances, despite occurring inside the arena, represented acts of resistance and defiance – a display of survival in a state that was one of the largest killing fields in the nation.

But it is deeply ironic that while the Aboriginal flag was being lifted, and broadcast across the world, right outside the arena, Aboriginal protestors were being arrested, their own flags dragging along the ground.

SBS journalist Stefan Armbruster, one of our allies and the few to be outside reporting on the protests, reported that three Aboriginal activists – Dylan Voller, Ruby Wharton and Meg Rodaughan – were detained by police outside the stadium.

All of them were part of a delegation to the Gold Coast, to protest the imperialism and colonialism of the ‘Stolenwealth’. They were continuing the legacy of previous resistance fighters, like the thousands who converged on Brisbane to protest under the draconian administration of Joh Bjelke-Petersen in 1982.

6-7 million Bengalis starved to death under Great Britain’s Churchill – largely whitewashed from British history

During the Bengali famine of World War 2 when 6-7 million Bengali people starved to death under Winston Churchill’s watch (largely whitewashed from British history).  Reportedly, when Churchill first received a telegram from the British colonial authorities in New Delhi about the rising toll of famine deaths in Bengal, his reaction was simply that he regretted that nationalist leader Mahatma Gandhi was not one of the victims. He’s been quoted as saying:

“I hate Indians. They are a beastly people  with a beastly religion …  they [Bengalis] breed like rabbits” Sir Winston Churchill

The important book “Churchill’s Secret War. The British Empire and the ravaging of India during World War II” by Madhusree Mukerjee  (Basic Books, New York, 2010) is an account of the forgotten World War 2  Bengali Holocaust, the man-made, 1942-1945  Bengal Famine  in which 6-7 million Indians were deliberately starved to death by the British under Churchill for strategic reasons in what was one of the greatest atrocities in human history but which has been largely white washed from British history.

47,000 children crippled and permanently disabled in India, a direct result of Bill Gates’ Polio vaccine

Rangitikei Environmental Health Watch

TRUTHstreammedia

After years of controversy in the United States, the use of oral polio vaccine (OPV) was discontinued in 2000 due to its proven link with vaccine-derived poliovirus (VDPV), and in the UK circa 2004.

The use of an injected and inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) replaced its usage in the Western world, while oral polio vaccine continues to be used in the developing world.

(Truthstream Media.com) At least he certainly OUGHT to have known that oral polio vaccines were discontinued in the U.S. due to their known contribution to vaccine-derived paralysis.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation created the GAVI alliance to push vaccinations on the poorest parts of the developing world in the name of “saving lives” and stopping disease.

In particular, Bill Gates expects to take credit for wiping out polio worldwide by making it one of his primary issues. But at…

Australia’s Horrendous Abuse Of Aboriginal Children The Tip Of Massive Australian Child Abuse

by July 30, 2016

The Australian ABC TV Four Corners program has revealed shocking CCTV images of mostly Aboriginal children being horrendously abused, assaulted and tortured by prison guards in a juvenile detention centre in Australia’s Northern Territory (NT). Australia has been shocked. The Coalition Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull set up a Royal Commission to investigate the matter but this (a) involves the complicit NT Government, (b) does not address horrendous nation-wide abuse of detained Aboriginal children, and (c) will ignore other massive child abuse within Australia and overseas in which child-abusing Australian Governments are complicit.

In writing this analysis of horrendous child abuse in Australia I am simply one decent Australian citizen without the vast resources of the Australian Federal Government. However it is likely the except for the shocking details revealed by Four Corners and similar abuses against imprisoned children in the NT [1], the rest of a mountain of Australian Government-complicit child abuse as detailed below will be ignored due to the highly restricted terms of reference of the proposed Royal Commission. Thus, for example, a current $500 million Australian Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse is confined to child abuse in state, religious and other institutions but will ignore a mountain of other child abuse – while it is estimated that up to 40,000 children have been subject to child sexual abuse by Catholic religious personnel in living memory, an estimated 4.4 million Australians adults have been subject to child sexual abuse, notably in the home or by family friends and relatives [2].

Australians are quite rightly upset because the Catholic Church hierarchy failed to act to expose and stop long-term, egregious child sexual abuse of up to about 40,000 Australian children by Catholic Church personnel. However look-the-other-way Australia resolutely ignores 4.4 million Australians adults who have been sexually abused as children, and the avoidable deaths since 9-11 of 27 million Muslims (half being children) in Muslim countries being war criminally violated by the US Alliance of which pro-Zionist, pro-Apartheid Israel, US lackey Australia is a slavish member.

The right-wing Australian Coalition Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull, has announced that the Royal Commission will be confined to abuse of juvenile detainees in the Northern Territory and will not be concerned with similar violent abuses occurring in other states of Australia. Further, the Royal Commission will be will be jointly run by the Coalition Federal Government together with the utterly disgraceful Coalition-like Country Liberal Party (CLP) Northern Territory Government which is clearly complicit in these atrocities i.e. this is like putting Dracula in charge of the blood bank. Furthermore, the Royal Commission will be conducted by a Northern Territory judge .
